STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT

ON EARTH

Immediately upon their arrival in the past, the Borg sphere begins an assault on the Earth's surface. Pacific Ocean Post produced many of these shots of the Borg firing on the surface, as well as the brilliant and effective camera shake applied to surface shots.

VisionArt handled the Vulcan ship elements of the final sequence, while Matte World
Digital created background and tree elements, as well as compositing the two
long shots of the sequence. For this shot of the approaching ship, VisionArt
animated the clouds and lights eminating from the Vulcan ship.

The ship rotates and lands near the Earth compound; VisionArt contributed the CG
model and animation of the Vulcan ship.

In the last shot of the film, the camera cranes up from the earth's surface.
The live-action was composited with one frame of the CG Vulcan ship (provided
by VisionArt) and the surrounding foliage is a combination of digital
matte paintings and miniature trees, courtesy of Matte World Digital.
