Previous, now out-of-date information:
Just outside of Lenox, Massachusetts rests one of the film industry's biggest effects companies. MASS.ILLUSIONS is the east coast's only full-service effects house, offering services including art and design, computer graphics, character animation, digital compositing, motion control and live-action photography, physical effects and model/miniature fabrication.
In preparation for the production of BACK TO THE FUTURE-THE RIDE, effects legend Douglas Trumbull assembled a crew of effects artists and the newest in high-tech equipment in a facility outside of Lenox, Massachusetts. After completing the BACK TO THE FUTURE ride, as well as three filmed attractions for Luxor Las Vegas, the facility was sold to Cinergi Pictures. Originally dubbed Cinergi F/X, the new effects company was created specifically to produce effects for Cinergi's JUDGE DREDD. Based on their performance on DREDD, Cinergi eventually re-named the facility MASS.ILLUSION, a full-service visual effects company. In September of 1997, MASS.ILLUSIONS, L.L.C. was born when the British firm The Manex Group partnered with the company. The press release can be read at http://www.mass-illusion.com/manex.html.
The facility boasts three motion control stages (including the world's largest motion-control gantry system), a talented art department, and an advanced previsualization department, among other things.
